Disaster in The Bahamas and How We Can Help
The devastation that hit the Bahamas was unspeakable. As of September 10th, the death toll was 50 and expecting to rise. Destruction of property, including homes, schools, churches, and businesses was beyond comprehension. Those that survived when soon be in need of the basic life necessities.
We have a unique opportunity to help those who are truly in need. We here at Encore2wo want to do our part to support the people of the Bahamas. A portion of each purchase made will be donated to the Bahamas Red Cross Dorian Disaster Relief Fund. Even if you don’t want to make a purchase, please feel free to do so by clicking this link:
Now a few words on encouragement about giving.
Luke 3: 10-11 And the crowds asked him, "What then shall we do?" And he answered them, "Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise."
Jesus Himself is speaking here and encouraging His listeners in what it means to genuinely share. We are blessed with abundance in this country, where even a poor person has or has access to the basic things needed to sustain life. Most of us have way more than we need and throw away enough stuff every year to feed and clothe millions. The wonderful thing about this is that even if every person who does have contributes $1 to $5 dollars, the sheer number of donations would be many many millions of dollars.
Hebrews 13: 16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
The other wonderful thing about giving is that in doing so, God is well pleased. It demonstrates a level of concern and true discipleship, that one is willing to impart a blessing to others, even when it means a sacrifice on our part. I don’t know about you, but I would like to be in the group that pleases God. And the other wonderful thing about it is this: When you give you just feel good. It’s a feeling that you only get when your actions directly help someone who can never repay you. You will never be recognized by those to whom you have helped, but God knows and He will be pleased.
Thank you!
